Top Ten Tuesday: Great Authors for Sarah Dessen Lovers

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.  Each week there is a new topic and this week’s topic is: Ten Books To Read If You Like {fill in the blank}

My favorite author of all time is Sarah Dessen. Between her books I’m always looking for other authors who can fill the void. I know I’m not the only one who feels this way, so here’s a list of authors for you to read after you’ve devoured Saint Anything (links are to GoodReads).

1) Jennifer E Smith – If you liked What Happened to Goodbye, read You Are Here

2) Huntley Fitzpatrick – If you liked  The Truth About Forever, read My Life Next Door

3) Kasie West – If you liked Along for the Ride, read The Distance Between Us

4) Sarah Strohmeyer – If you liked The Moon and More, read How Zoe Made Her Dreams (Mostly) Come True

5) Elizabeth Scott – If you liked This Lullaby, read Stealing Heaven

6) Morgan Matson – If you liked Someone Like You, read Since You’ve Been Gone

7) Susane Colasanti – If you liked Keeping the Moon, read Keep Holding On

8) Kim Culbertson – If you liked Saint Anything, read Catch a Falling Star

9) Sarah Ockler – If you liked Lock & Key, read The Summer of Chasing Mermaids

10) Deb Caletti – If you liked Dreamland, read Honey, Baby, Sweetheart

Okay, seriously, I spent WAY too much time putting this list together. I hope somebody appreciates it! 😉

  1. I love Sarah Dessen, even though I haven’t read all her book, YET. I wasn’t sure I wanted to read My Life Next Door but now that you compared it to The Truth About Forever – possibly my favorite of Dessen’s book – I’ll definitely give it a try. I really enjoyed Sweet Lullaby so I checked out Stealing Heaven and oh my god, it sounds EXACTLY LIKE MY KIND OF BOOK. Will read it after the Halloween event ends on my blog. 🙂
    Thanks for the recommendations, yours is one of the most creative lists I’ve seen today. 🙂

  2. I’ve been thinking about trying some of Sarah’s books and given that I loved Jennifer E. Smith’s newest and am liking “On the Fence” (Kasie West), I’m thinking I should give one of her books a chance. Thanks for the fun list! 🙂

  3. I just read Catch a Falling Star a few weeks ago and I absolutely loved it. I was having a bit of a reading slump, and it completely pulled me out. It was adorable. I actually haven’t read anything by Sarah Dessen. So, I suppose since I loved Catch a Falling Star, I should read Saint Anything ;).

  4. I highly recommend Emery Lord’s books because they have a very Sarah Dessen feel to them. I’ve read her book The Start of Me and You and it reminded me a lot of Along for the Ride by Dessen. So that might be something you’d like to pick up 🙂

  5. I absolutely love Sarah Dessen! Morgan Matson and Sarah Ockler are spot on recommendations. And I’ve been meaning to try out Huntley Fitzpatrick as well. The only author missing from this list is Emery Lord (whom I love and she’s just the best at Twitter). Great list!
